Canada plans to welcome over 980,000 new permanent residents

Canada’s three-year immigration plan for 2018-2020 is historic and responsible. The target is to welcome over 980,000 new permanent residents to the country. Majority of the immigrants will settle as economic immigrants, with over 242,000 expected to arrive through the express entry.

The processing time is 6 months or less, which is helping tens of thousands of workers successfully immigrate to Canada. Provincial Nominee Programs are supposed to bring in 183,800 immigrants with the help of Federal Government.

The Family Class programs will welcome up to 265,500 individuals including children, parents, and grandparents of citizen and other permanent residents under the Family Class program.

The government plans to welcome 310,000 new permanent residents in 2018, followed by 330,000 in 2019, and 340,000 in 2020. “This ambitious plan will benefit all Canadians because immigrants contribute to economic growth and keep our country competitive in a global economy,” said Hussein.
