IRCC to initiate first-come, first-serve system for Parents and Grandparents Program

IRCC will be soon scrap its controversial randomized programs for its Parents and Grandparents Program in 2019 and will be soon embracing the first come, first serve so as to invite the interested sponsors. IRCC is set to increase the number of applications to be accepted to 20,000 by 2019. The very move was announced on August 20, 2018, in a news statement. According to IRCC, it will accept new applications via the Parents and Grandparents Program [PGP]. The Government of Canada also states that they would be providing everyone with an equal opportunity to sponsor their parents and grandparents. According to Mr. Ahmed Husen, Immigration Officer, this is an initiative taken by the Government of Canada as a “commitment of helping families live, work, and thrive together in Canada.”
