In a recent Expression of Interest (EOI) draw held on May 16, 2019, Prince Edward Island invited 104 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates who come under Express Entry, Labor Impact and Business Impact categories. To get nominated through the provincial nominee program, the Express Entry candidates must register in Expression of Interest with Prince Edward Island PNP.
Out of 104 invitations, 90 invitations were issued through the Labor Impact Category and Express Entry candidates who had registered Expression of Interest with PEI PNP; whilst 14 invitations were issued to Business Impact candidates.
However, the Prince Edward Island PNP did not specify how many invitations under Labor Impact category went to Express Entry Candidates. Also, the province did not disclose the minimum score threshold for the Labor Impact category in the draw held on May 16.
For the Business Impact invitations, akin the draw held on 18th April the lowest cut-off score was 107. This stream is meant for individuals looking for business opportunities in the Prince Edward Island province. Once the application is accepted, the candidates receive a temporary work permit to establish their business in the province.
The Prince Edward Island province also facilitates business applicants to apply for Canadian permanent residence if they meet the conditions of the performance agreement laid by the government.
Through this draw, the major invitations were received by candidates under Labor Impact Category which consists of Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate streams.
Canada’s federal department of immigration processes the applications for Canadian PR for candidates nominated through Labor Impact Stream.
In the PNP draw the candidates are selected on the basis of the lowest threshold score decided by the province for a particular draw. The score is given out of 100 and is determined by parameters like education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French.
The candidates who qualify the score parameter receive Invitations to Apply for a provincial nomination through draws held for Prince Edward Island PNP. Also, PEI PNP gives preference to candidates who live and work in the province. However, a job offer is not a mandatory requirement.
The candidates who get selected for the provincial nomination receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points and secure an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry Draw.
The next Expression of Interest draw for Prince Edward Island is scheduled to be held on 20th June, 2019.
