Prince Edward Island: Changes in entrepreneur immigration streams

With effect from September 20, 2018, Prince Edward Island provincial nominee program have made certain changes in their program and have removed two of its current business streams from their program. They are no longer accepting applications from the new applicants who will be applying through this business stream. Because of continuous observation, it has been noticed that the existing PEI business was being abused as applicants nominated under this stream receive permanent residency immediately and so certain changes were necessary.
According to the new rule, no more than 10 business applicants will be accepted in a draw. Foreign applicants can still establish or purchase a business under the PEI PNP work permit stream, which will allow the individuals to move on temporary work permit. They have to stay for a period of one (1) year before being considered for a provincial nomination for permanent residency. Only the approved applications will receive a letter of support from PEI office of Immigration in order to apply for work permit.
