Province of Alberta is all set to invite Express Entry candidates having a CRS score of 352 and above to apply for the provincial nomination. The express entry candidates were invited in two draws held on July 31, 2019, and August 7, 2019.
There were 319 notifications of Interest (NOIs) issued on July 31 to opt Express Entry candidates having a CRS score of 400 and above. On the other hand, 35 NOIs were sent to candidates with CRS scores of 352 on August 7.
NOI allows the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to find Federal Express Entry system for the candidates (who fulfill eligibility requirement) and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
The AINP has held a total of 27 draws since the first Alberta Express Entry Stream selection took place over a year ago. And, a total of 5,382 NOIs have been delivered to foreign nationals seeking to settle down in Alberta.
To be considered for a nomination through this stream or any other Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), the very first step is to register for Express Entry profile. Talking about the eligibility criteria for Alberta Express Entry Stream, no prior work experience or job offer is required. Although, the work profile of candidates should support the provinces of economic development.
According to AINP, the priority will be given to the candidates who:
- Hold a job offer or work experience in Alberta
- A degree from Canadian post-secondary institution with a valid job offer
- A parent, Child, or Sibling already residing in Alberta
Factors that can decrease the prospects not receiving from Alberta are:
- Express Entry expire date is within three months of the draw
- Certain occupation that listed under Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupation List
Several times it also has been seen that Alberta’s Express Entry Stream often conducts draws for applicants with CRS scores much lower than drawn from the Federal Express Entry system. Also, the Express Entry candidates who are holding a provincial nomination receive add on CRS points of 600 and are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence direct from the Government of Canada.
