In a report released by Alberta province, it has been stated that the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has issued a total of 3,357 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in 2019. AINP has conducted 14 draws so far in this year to issue invitations for provincial nominations for Canadian Permanent Residence to Express Entry candidates.
Alberta is well known for its vast oil resources. Over the years Energy has been the most important sector for the province’s economy. The new sectors that have witnessed growth in recent years include Information Technology, Health Services among several other industries. The Edmonton and Calgary cities in Alberta have been preferred as a choice among the immigrants seeking permanent residence opportunities in Canada.
To be nominated through Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, the candidates are required to be eligible for one of the three federal immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. Also, it is requisite for the candidate to have a profile in the Express Entry pool.
Like other provincial programs of Canada, candidates nominated via the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program receive an additional 600 CRS points that help them get an edge in the Federal Express Entry draw to secure an ITA.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream which was introduced in the last year facilitates AINP to search for candidates from the Federal Express Entry pool who meet the province’s eligibility criteria and subsequently invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR.
The candidates selected by AINP are issued a Notification of Interest (NOIs) to apply for provincial nominations for Canada permanent residence. The candidates receiving the NOI are then required to submit an application for a provincial nomination from Alberta
In the draws held in 2019, the candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 300 have been considered in the AINP draws.
The Express Entry candidates who qualify to receive an ITA through Alberta’s provincial nominee program are required to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must have a Comprehensive Ranking System score of at least 300.
- Must possess an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities.
AINP also sets criteria wherein it prioritizes candidates – who possess a job offer or hold a work experience in Alberta and/or secured a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution. Candidates whose parent, child or sibling is already living in Alberta are also given priority when issuing the invitations to apply.
