The details of Alberta’s second-smallest draw of the year held on November 24 have been released.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) invited 100  Express Entry candidates with at least a 350 score to apply for a provincial nomination.

Alberta is permitted to offer 6,250 nomination certificates in 2021. Alberta has issued 6,094 nomination certificates so far this year. Because there are few nomination certificates left, this could explain why the draw size was so small.

According to the government website, there are approximately 400 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 825 expression of interest applications in the Alberta Express Entry pool as of December 7.

About Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry stream is an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). It let’s the provincial government make a search in the federal Express Entry pool for potential candidates who are eligible for a provincial nomination.

Express Entry is the application management system for the three Federal High Skilled programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Alberta Express Entry Stream – Eligibility

To be eligible for a provincial nomination through the Alberta Express Entry stream, you must have work experience in an eligible occupation. The AINP does not list occupations that are eligible for the stream; rather, it lists occupations that are not eligible for the stream. Many people who apply for jobs in this field work as food service supervisors, transport truck drivers, cooks, and so on.

The AINP has a high volume of applications and Alberta Express Entry submissions in the following occupations. These submissions may take longer to process. Here is the list.

Your Express Entry profile should reflect your desire to relocate to Alberta. Certain factors, such as work experience or a job offer in Alberta, increase your chances of being nominated. A Canadian education is also advantageous. If you have a parent, child, or sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen of Alberta, it will also help your application.

The Purpose of this PNP is to support the province’s priorities for economic development and diversification.
