72 IT professionals got invited by British Columbia in new PNP draw

British Columbia BC PNP Draw
  • October 8, 2020

On October 06, 2020, British Columbia (BC) announced a special Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw where 72 IT professionals got invited for permanent residence.

Skilled Worker & International Graduate subcategory applicants in both Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams have received an invitation via the latest PNP round.

To get eligible, the minimum score requirement was 80 for both subcategories, which remains the same from all other tech draws since mid-June.

Every week BC holds Tech Pilot draws via which applicants holding jobs offers under 29 eligible occupations get invited to apply for a provincial nomination. This program was launched in 2017 with the purpose of helping B.C.’s technology sector recruitment. From such invitations, the labour market of BC gets eligible & experienced candidates so that their technology sector can perform well in the industry.

To become eligible applicants must have to register in one of B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams with a job offer (it should have at least 12 months validity) in one of the Tech Pilot’s eligible occupations.

People who are not aware of such a program want to participate will have to first create a profile via the online portal of the BC PNP and need to register for its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Applicants get evaluated considering factors like level of education, work experience, proficiency in English, and location of employment and then given a score to index the applications.

Once their applications are approved, they are allowed to use that to apply for permanent residence under provincial nomination.

Applicants of Express Entry who get a nomination invitation from British Columbia will get an additional 600 points in their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score table. Such an addition of points adds value to the application that guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a future federal Express Entry draw.
