In the latest draw held on April 16, 2019, British Columbia invited 71 Tech Pilot candidates to apply for provincial nominations. It is the largest number of invitation announced by British Columbia for BC PNP Tech Pilot until now.
Tech Pilot candidates with a minimum score of 90 were issued an Invitation to Apply. The invitations were issued across five categories viz. A Tech Pilot candidate had to meet following eligibility criteria to qualify for Invitation for provincial nominations:
- The candidate must possess a job offer from a British Columbia Employer.
- The job offer is required to be of at least one year i.e. 365 days.
- Have 120 calendar days remaining at the time of application.
- The job offer must be of a specified occupation in British Columbia Tech Pilot occupation list.
To be eligible for an Invitation to Apply (ITA), both, the applicant and the BC employer must meet all the requirements of the BC PNP Tech Pilot program at the time of registration. To invite the non- technical candidates British Columbia conducts other immigration draws. The processing time for British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program applications is around two to three months from the date of receipt. Meanwhile, the BC employers can look to hire and retain in-demand candidates in the province.

The British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot was launched in 2017. It was introduced as a result of increase in-demand for proficient candidates in British Columbia’s technology sector. The British Columbia PNP issues Invitations to Apply on a weekly basis to eligible candidates who are registered for BC PNP Tech Pilot and have a valid job offer in one of the listed occupation category.
BC PNP Tech Pilot has immensely supported skilled workers in the technical field and also helped in meeting the demand for tech talent in the province. Keeping in view the demand of technically skilled workers, the BC PNP Tech Pilot is being extended up to June 2019.
