As we adjust to the extraordinary challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, one cannot lose sight of the enormous benefits immigration presents to the prosperity and way of life, for it enriches Canada with its new culture, perspective and economic growth.

Under Canada’s Constitution, the federal government and each province and territory share the authority to manage the country’s immigration system. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada except Quebec and Nunavut. The main purpose is to spread the benefits of immigration such as supports employment, investment, entrepreneurship, and spending.

Canada seeks to welcome over 80,000 immigrants through the PNP each year. And alone it has issued over 3,400 invitations to apply for provincial nomination during the month of August 2021.

Each provinces and territories have at least one PNP stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry system. In 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been holding PNP-specific Express Entry draws, on average, every two weeks which is Canada’s principal source of economic immigration.
