The visible growth in Canadian labour force statistics reports since September evident the continuous increase in employment rates of immigrants. The increment of employment rate has nearly matched the Canadian workforce efficiency to the United States’ current workforce.
With the increase of re-joining ration immigrants of Canada are recovering from financial issues and this is a positive sign against the steps taken by the government of Canada according to recovery plans.
Comparing to August, employment rose faster by 2.1% in September which was 1.4% earlier. This result is proven by the recent Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey This survey was conducted from September 13 to 19. The data of the report made from the survey shows that the employment rate is now 3.7% or 720,000 jobs, of its pre-coronavirus levels. The industries like accommodation, food services, and retail trade remain behind other industries from full recovery.
If we see the change in the employment rate of recent immigrants only that were migrated to Canada less than five years back varied by 63.6%.
The speed of employment has been affected because of the lower number of new immigrants arriving since travel restrictions went into place and the average employment rate falls down due to it.
1.7% of the increase, up to 57.8% in September has been noticed in old immigrant’s employment rates that migrated to Canada more than five years back and 0.5% of the increase in Canadian-born workers.
The statistic report said, “Immigrants who landed in Canada more than five years ago are more likely than very recent immigrants to be employed in industries where employment has been relatively less affected by COVID-19,”. This statement was written from the listing of common employment sectors like health care and social assistance; public administration; finance, insurance, real estate, rental, and leasing; where immigrants are employed.
