Canada held its latest Express Entry draw on April 17, 2019, issuing 3,350 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian Permanent Residence to the candidates in the Express Entry pool. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for the latest draw is 451, which is the same as the CRS score cut-off for the last draw held on April 3, 2019.
With the draw held on April 17, 2019, the total number of Invitations to Apply (ITA) has reached to 27,900. Around the same time in 2018, the total numbers of ITAs issued were 21,000 which are 6900 less than the ITAs issued in the latest draw.
This figure is a testimony that the year 2019 is set to be another big year for Express Entry, and will issue more ITAs compared to 2018 – which closed at a record figure of 89,800.
Canada is increasing its immigration targets for 2020, which is the major reason behind the current growth in the number of ITAs issued. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have higher admissions targets for 2019–2020; therefore, it is certain that 2019 total ITAs will surpass 2018’s annual record.
Once again, the tie-break rule was applied for Express Entry draw on April 17, 2019, draw. The tie-break was set at April 2, 2019, at 15:01:49 UTC, which means that candidates with a CRS score above 451, who had entered the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA in this Express Entry Draw.
