  • January 8, 2021

Canada held another Express Entry for Canadian Experience Class on January 7 which is consecutive second draw in last two days.

IRCC issued 4750 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to the candidates with the cut-off Comprehensive Ranking (CRS) score 461 points. The results of the draw were released on January 8, 2021.

IRCC had held the CEC and PNP program-specific draws between March and August back to back on specific time intervals and the number of ITAs from the two draws combined added up to a round number. In later 2020, IRCC started holding all-program draw again inviting the highest number of invitations in one draw where the CRS score cut-off declined gradually. The end of the previous year hit 100,000 plus invitations for the year.

Express Entry is a system that the federal government uses to manage applications for Canada’s three main economic-class programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). In addition to that, the most provinces also have immigration streams that are aligned with the Express Entry system.

In the Express Entry system, candidates are ranked based on their CRS score that considers multiple factors including their age, work experience, education and proficiency in French or English. In some cases, the date and time at which the Express Entry profile was created is also a ranking factor.

All-program invitation round that is for the entire EE pool may have higher cut-off score as the numbers of invitations to be issued in one go is limited while number of candidates is huge. In the program-specific draw, the smaller pool of candidates usually keeps the cut-off score low compared to the all program draw.

The tire breaking rule was implemented in this draw for the profiles that were submitted before September 12, 2020 at 20:46:32 UTC. Means the candidates who have minimum score of 461 points would have received the invitation provided they have submitted their profile before the given time.

This draw brings the total number of invitations issued in 2021 so far to 5,000 where 250 invitations were issued for PNP while 4750 invitations are issued in this draw.
