Canada issued 924 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through its Provincial Nominee Program Express Entry draw on March 16

In this latest draw, a Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 754 points was required; 7 points lower than the previous PNP draw.

The tie-breaking rule implemented on February 10, 2022 at 10.35 am EST. If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this date and time received invitations.

In 2022, this was the sixth round of invitations under Express Entry and the 218th overall. Canada has so far issued 5,551 invitations, all to PNP candidates, in 2022.

In 2021, IRCC issued 114,431 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to CEC and PNP candidates, a record number. It surpassed the previous record set in 2020 of 107,350.

To address the Coronavirus crisis, IRCC has switched to draws for PNP and CEC candidates to target those who are already in Canada on work or study permits.

What is Express Entry?

It is the application management system for three Canadian immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. PNP candidates in the Express Entry pool have already qualified for one of these programs.

CRS is a points-based ranking system that Express Entry uses to rank applicants. Candidate with the highest scores will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and then be eligible to apply for permanent residency.

When a candidate applies, an IRCC officer reviews the application and makes a decision. Officers will ask for biometrics and may ask for more documents or set up an interview.

IRCC issues a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) if the application is approved. Approved permanent residents can then complete the landing process. Those who are outside of Canada can take advantage of pre-arrival services that help them settle in Canada.
