The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) accepts applications under the following three immigration categories:
- Skilled worker
- Express Entry skilled worker
- Critical Impact worker
Northwest territory skilled worker stream:
This program is an employer-driven program in which a foreign worker on receiving a job offer in a skilled occupation category of National Occupation classification from an employer in the Northwest Territories and meeting the other requirements of the available position; licensing, certification and Language skills, etc may qualify under this stream.
Minimum requirements from the employer:
- An employer should have a job vacancy and should identify a potential nominee.
- An employer should possess a registered business operating for a minimum of one year.
- Be in good standing with the Worker’s Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) and the NWT Employment Standards.
- Provide proof of local and national recruitment efforts and submit a summary of results.
- Obtain a positive Canada Labor Market Opinion through Employment and social development, Canada.
- The job position should be a permanent full-time job position (Minimum 30 hours per week)
- The job position should fall in high skill level occupation in National Occupation classification level O, A and B
Minimum requirements from the nominee/applicant:
- The applicant must possess the required certification or accreditation for the specific occupation.
- The applicant should have the required work experience for the specific occupation.
- Provide proof of sufficient financial or settlement supports in the Northwest Territory.
- The applicant must be able to communicate in either English or French.
- The applicant should not be a refugee claimant.
Northwest Territory Express Entry stream for skilled workers:
The NWT Express Entry Stream for Skilled Workers is for the foreign nationals who have a profile in the IRCC federal Express Entry pool. Employers and candidates must meet the same requirements as the Skilled Worker stream mentioned above and must also fulfill the additional requirement mentioned as follows :
Additional minimum requirements:
- The applicant must provide the Express Entry pool acceptance letter issued by IRCC, Canada.
- The applicant should provide a valid job seeker validation code.
- Maintain valid status in the Express Entry pool throughout the application process.
- Meet the eligibility criteria for the Northwest Territories’ Skilled Worker stream.
- Have expressed interest in settling permanently in the Northwest Territories.
Northwest territories critical impact worker stream:
This program is also an employer-driven program in which a foreign worker on receiving a job offer in a skilled occupation category of National Occupation classification level C and D from an employer in the Northwest Territories and meeting the other requirements of the available position; licensing, certification, Language skills, etc may qualify under this stream.
Minimum requirements from the employer:
- An employer should have a job vacancy and should identify a potential nominee.
- An employer should possess a registered business operating for a minimum of one year.
