  • Skilled Workers Overseas – 15 LAAs through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, with a minimum score of 726.

The Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream – Eligibility Criteria

Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM) is designed to meet the specific needs of Manitoba employers. The SWM selects foreign-trained workers with the required skills and nominates them for permanent residency in Canada. Candidates with a strong connection to Manitoba are given priority under this stream, which offers two pathways for immigration to Manitoba.

  1. Manitoba Work Experience Pathway Candidates currently working in Manitoba on temporary work permits, through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, or as international graduates from any province. It is not necessary for candidates to work in an in-demand occupation.
  2. Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway For applicants from overseas with job offers from approved Manitoba employers

The Skilled Worker Overseas Stream: How Can I Apply?

Both a dedicated Express Entry pathway and a direct provincial pathway are included within the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream (SWO).

This program is aimed at international workers with skills and training in Manitoba’s high-demand occupations. Candidates with close family connections and those with language proficiency, training and experience are given preference.

  • Manitoba Express Entry Pathway: For international candidates who are eligible under another MPNP stream and meet the Express Entry criteria, and have an active Express Entry profile. Candidates should have skills, training, and experience in one of Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations and have family ties to Manitoba.
  • Human Capital Pathway: The program is for skilled foreign workers with skills, training, and work experience in one of Manitoba’s In-Demand Jobs. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to find employment in Manitoba as soon as they arrive.

How Do I Apply For The International Education Stream?

Students who graduated from Manitoba’s colleges and universities are eligible to apply to the International Education Stream (IES). Candidates are no longer required to work for six months in their field before applying for an MPNP nomination under IES. It has three pathways:

  • Career Employment Pathway:
    • Have completed a one-year or longer course from an eligible post-secondary Manitoba institution within three years of application submission.
    • Having a full-time job offer in an occupation in demand in Manitoba
    • Resident of Manitoba
  • Graduate Internship Pathway: Students with master’s or doctoral degrees who have completed Mitacs Accelerate or Elevate internships may apply for nominations through internships even if they do not have a job offer in the province.
  • Student Entrepreneur Pathway: Eligibility requirements include:
    • Completed a two-year or longer course from an eligible post-secondary Manitoba institution
    • Six months business operation experience in Manitoba
    • Resident of Manitoba since graduation.
    • No specific minimum personal net worth requirement
