Indian nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 can now apply for a new "First Work and Holiday visa" to Australia through a pre-application procedure starting this month.

Between October 14 and April 30, 2025, the Australian immigration authorities will choose registrants at random. Those who are chosen at random to apply will get an email notification.
This will give 1,000 young Indians between the ages of 18 and 30 the chance to work or study for a year while they travel for a year to experience Australian culture. This visa is a representation of the two nations' expanding cultural and economic relations, which are only getting stronger.
There will be up to 1,000 visas granted annually. Approximately 40,000 individuals have already applied for the ballot procedure, which is now open. The cost of the visa is $650. "This is a fantastic opportunity for young Indians and a new category of visas," he remarked. "To apply for the ballot procedure, people must spend $25. A computer selects the ballot at random. Therefore, there is absolutely no human participation. To confirm their eligibility, these candidates will undergo character and health examinations," he continued.
The Australian government is introducing a visa pre-application (ballot) procedure for China and Vietnam in addition to India.
India became the 50th Working Holiday Maker partner when it formally joined the Working Holiday Maker visa program on September 16.
