January 20, 2020 – In the very first draw held on January 16, the Government of Prince Edward Island has issued 123 invitations to the applicants falling under the Express entry, Labor Impact, and Business Impact categories.
A total of 110 candidates invited through the express entry and labor impact categories can apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Remaining 13 invitations were issued to candidates with an EOI profile in the Business Impact category i.e. work permit stream. The applicants who were invited had a minimum score of 125. The Work Permit Stream is for those interested in owning and operating a business in PEI.
Express entry category is linked to the federal express entry system that manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three immigration categories – Federal skilled worker class, Federal skilled trade class, and Canadian experience class.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points for their federal ranking score. These points ensure an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence from the government of Canada.
Candidates falling under labor impact category were also invited in the draw held. The labor impact category is for foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the province and is divided into three streams – Skilled worker, Critical worker, and International graduate.
