October 30, 2019 – Immigration ministry of Canada on Wednesday announced that they could admit up to 44,500 new permanent residents and issue up to 24, 700 new selection certificates.
The new admissions to Quebec in 2020 are expected to be filled up through the province’s economic immigration program and the Quebec skilled Worker Program.
In the current year, the immigration level has seen a rise of 27, 00 over its maximum of 41, 800 newcomers which clearly reflects the governing Coalition Avenir Quebec (CAQ’s) objective to make immigration levels a new rise to the province after reducing them by 20 percent.
Simon Jolin-Barrette, Quebec’s Immigration Minister said, “Province’s immigration level could return to above 50, 000 – the figure which it was when the CAQ won office in 2018.
2020 Quebec Selection Certificate Targets
Quebec government has the power to select all the Economic Class Immigrants and certain Refugees to the province. The selected immigrants are awarded a Quebec Selection Certificate and then can be eligible to apply to Canada’s federal government for permanent residence.
Quebec is holding an objective to issue a selection certificate between 20,000 and 24,800 in year 2020. Of which, the majority (up to 15,000) will go to the skilled worker candidates.
