Largely, Quebec is excited and positive to welcome nearly 40,000 new permanent residents for 2019. According to their immigration plans for the upcoming year, the city plans to invite 24,800 selection certificates towards inviting candidates. The main focus and the plan that will accommodate more than 58% admissions in the city will come from the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP). They have set a target for themselves with approximately 23,450 towards Quebec’s economic immigration programs, including 19,500 skilled workers. Apart from this, Quebec also targets to receive 3,200 invitations towards Business Immigration Programs which are inclusive of Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, Quebec Entrepreneur Program, and the Quebec Self-Employed Worker Program.
Apart from the above mentioned programs, they are also targeting other programs such as family sponsorship, caregivers, refugees and other immigration programs giving a chance to every individual to apply through their programs. The candidate are evaluated on numerous aspects starting with they should be over 18 years of age and based on various factors like skilled work experience, education, language proficiency, and financial sufficiency the profiles will be considered.
In his introduction to the 2019 plan, Quebec’s new Immigration Minister, Simon Jolin-Barrette, said: “The temporary reduction will ensure that those who are admitted are better integrated into the majority French-speaking province while ensuring employers continue to have access to skilled foreign workers”.
