In a statement issued on April 4, 2019, the Saskatchewan province announced an update in their In-Demand Occupation List. According to their official website, a total of 13 new occupations have been added in the revised in-demand occupation list.
Along with adding 13 new occupations, 9 occupations including Industrial Mechanics, Welders and Psychiatrists were removed from the in-demand occupation list.
Currently, the revised list consists of 24 occupations for applicants applying through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. It is important to note that individuals applying for Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), under either Express Entry or Occupations In-Demand subcategory, are expected to have work experience in any of the occupations listed on the updated In-Demand Occupations List. However, it is not mandatory to have a job-offer for either category.
All the occupations that are added as part of the updated In-Demand Occupation List have specific educational requirements; moreover, 9 out of 24 updated occupations do not require professional status or licensure. Canada’s PNP allows 9 provinces and 2 territories to select immigrants for Canadian Permanent Residence. Saskatchewan is one such province that operates SINP to invite aspirants seeking permanent residence in Canada.
The candidates who will be selected for the provincial nomination will receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points and will guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry Draw. The Saskatchewan In-Demand Occupations list is expected to revise yet again. Therefore, for candidates whose occupation is listed in the In-Demand Occupation list, it is the best time to apply for the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).
