  • January 23, 2021

US Embassy New Delhi plans to resume the processing of all visa categories that include student visas, H1-B, H4, L1, L2, C1/D and B1/B2 visas from February 1. However, it will be in limited capacity in order to maintain the safety of the customers and staff until the consulates are able to provide service at the fullest and then services will expand.

Cancellation of March 2021 non-immigrant visa appointments:

Non-immigrant Visa Unit is unable to honor appointments that were scheduled previously for March 2021 due to scheduling changes. In case the visa interview is cancelled, the applicant will receive an SMS and/or email notification and it may be rescheduled as per the convenience. Applicants, if visa appointments were cancelled, are required to reschedule both the existing appointments at Visa Application Center for biometric enrollment and in-person interview at US Embassy New Delhi.

To reschedule, log into your profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in and there is NO NEED to contact the call center or customer support.

Please note that the validity of applicants’ payments (known as the MRV fee) are extended until December 31, 2021, to allow all applicants who were unable to schedule a visa appointment.

Employment-based Visa Appointments:

U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India are now processing a limited number of employment-based visa appointments, including H, L, and O visas. Appointments can be made through our website http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in.

How to Request an Expedited Appointment:

Applicants now can request an expedited appointment through online system at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/expedited-appointment.html. Applicants must have a confirmed interview appointment date to request expedited appointment. If the emergency appointment request is approved, you will be notified with instructions via email.

Please note that you should not cancel your existing appointment unless you receive confirmation for emergency appointment. If you have not yet received an approval or denial, your request is still under consideration.

When you are making application, the purpose of your intend to travel and other related facts will determine what type of visa is required for you under US Immigration Law. You have to ensure that you meet all the requirements and provide the evidence to receive the category of visa that you wish to apply. We suggest you to make the preparations before making an application.
