Alberta Invites 100 Express Entry Candidates

Alberta announced details of a new draw that took place on May 19 through the Express Entry-linked stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program.

In total, 100 applicants were invited, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 382, 26 higher than the previous draw.

In order to qualify for the Alberta Express Entry stream, candidates must have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to the province. In addition, they must be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification.

Here are the full details of the requirements for Alberta Express Entry:

Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to receive a notification of interest:

• Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
• Have expressed an interest in immigrating to Alberta permanently.
• Working in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification of Alberta.
• Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300 points.

The following factors may increase a candidate’s chances of receiving a notification of interest:

• A job offer from an Albertan employer and/or work experience in Alberta.
• Having graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
• Having a relative that is living in Alberta: parent, child and/or sibling.

The following factors decrease a candidate’s chances of receiving a notification of interest:

• The Express Entry profile expires within the next 3 months
• You work in an ineligible occupation

High Number of Applications

In Alberta, AAIP applications have been received in a high number for the following occupations, which may delay their processing:

• 6311 – Food service supervisors
• 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
• 1241 – Administrative assistants
• 6322 – Cooks
• 1221 – Administrative officers
• 7511 – Transport truck drivers
• 4214 – Early childhood educators and assistants
• 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
• 1311 – Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
• 0621 – Retail and wholesale trade managers
