Yukon Community Pilot Program

Yukon is the smallest territory towards the western part of Canada. It is the least populated Canadian province or territory. Only around 40,000 people reside in the territory. Whitehorse is the primary city of Yukon where the majority of people live.

The Yukon Community Pilot is work permit component program managed by Federal Territorial Permanent Resident Stream. The Yukon community pilot program got introduced in July 2020 and will remain open for the next three years. The continuation of the program will be extended after monitoring the development of the community.

The purpose of YCP is to invite the immigrants to migrate in Yukon communities for economic development and to fulfil the labour market needs by testing innovative approaches to permanent immigration.

There are six participating communities including Whitehorse. Applicant will be eligible for 2 years of location restricted Work permit under YCP once they receive a valid nomination from Yukon for permanent residence.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to meet the requirement of YCP work permit, the applicant must have a nomination certificate from the Yukon government. Once an applicant receives a nomination certificate, he/she will be eligible for a work permit if they meet the following requirements:

Important: The applicant has to get the provincial nomination and while his or her PR is under process, at least 2 or 3 job offers should be obtained to be eligible for this particular work permit.
