Prince Edward Island Business Immigration

The Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category issues permanent residence to entrepreneurs who have established a business in the province. Initially, the applicants come to Canada on a temporary work permit and establish the business. Once the business is established and the terms of an agreement are met, applicants are nominated for permanent residency.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants:

• Investment of a minimum of $150,000 in a company in Prince Edward Island.
• Control at least 1/3 of the company’s share or make an investment in the company of at least $1,000,000.
• Actively manage the business from within Prince Edward Island.

Eligibility Criteria for Businesses:

• A business should be a profitable venture and registered under the Companies Act of Prince Edward Island or the Canada Business Corporations Act.
• A business should be located in Prince Edward Island and should operate for the purpose of earning profits from active income through providing goods and/or services and should be in good standing on all debts and obligations.
• Maintain a permanent establishment in P.E.I. as defined under the Income Tax Act by regulation 400.
• Should have assets with a value of at least $150,000. These assets must be actively used for the expansion of the business.
• Have the potential to create significant economic benefits for Prince Edward Island by contributing to one or more of the following industries.

   2. Exports of goods or services
   3. Destination tourism
   4. Research and development
   5. Technology commercialization
   6. Any industry in an undeserved local or regional market
   7. Retail and restaurant investment
