Alberta Invites 350 Express Entry Candidates

Alberta announced details of a new draw held on March 8 through the Express Entry-linked stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program.

In total, 350 applicants were invited, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 318, 22 lower than the previous draw.

In order to be considered for the Alberta Express Entry stream, applicants must be interested in immigrating permanently to Alberta, as well as be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification.

In 2021, the province reached its federal government nomination limit of 6,250. For 2022, the allocation is unknown.

The province also has 500 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 850 expression of interest applications in the Alberta Express Entry pool.

 

High Number of Applications

In Alberta, AAIP applications have been received in a high number for the following occupations, which may delay their processing:

  • 6311 – Food service supervisors
  • 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
  • 1241 – Administrative assistants
  • 6322 – Cooks
  • 1221 – Administrative officers
  • 7511 – Transport truck drivers
  • 4214 – Early childhood educators and assistants
  • 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
  • 1311 – Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
  • 0621 – Retail and wholesale trade managers

 

How do I apply for Alberta Express Entry?

Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to receive a notification of interest:

  • Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Have expressed an interest in immigrating to Alberta permanently.
  • Working in an occupation that supports the economic development and diversification of Alberta.
  • Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300 points.

Candidates’ chances of receiving a notification of interest may be improved if they meet the following criteria:

  • A job offer from an Albertan employer and/or work experience in Alberta.
  • Having graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Having a relative that is living in Alberta: parent, child and/or sibling.

The following factors decrease a candidate’s chances of receiving a notification of interest:
