Alberta has released the details of its latest PNP Draw

On February 1, Alberta invited 400 Express Entry candidates to apply for the Alberta Express Entry stream. These candidates needed a CRS score of at least 340 in order to be invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

If they get nominated, 600 points will be added to their score and they’ll be eligible for an Express Entry PNP round of invitations.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program will now be called the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), and the two new streams are called the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream.

Alberta is also changing the name of three existing entrepreneur streams:

  • The International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream is now the Graduate Entrepreneur Stream.
  • The Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream is now the Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream.
  • The Self-Employed Farmer Stream is now the Farm Stream.

The eligibility criteria is not changing for these existing streams.

 

Alberta Express Entry Stream – Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible to receive a notification of interest, candidates must:

  • Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta.
  • Be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification.
  • Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300 points.

Factors that may improve a candidate’s chances of receiving a notification of interest:

  • A job offer from an Albertan employer and/or work experience in Alberta.
  • Having graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Having a relative that is living in Alberta: parent, child and/or sibling.

 

Factors that decrease a candidate’s chances of receiving a notification of interest:

  • The Express Entry profile expires within the next 3 months

Work in an occupation:

  1. on the list of High-wage and low-wage occupations in the province of Alberta set out on the online Government of Canada Refusal to Process a Labour Market Impact Assessment list;
  2. on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list; or
  3. that has a high volume of submissions across all AAIP stream.
