British Columbia immigration programs

The provincial government manages its immigration through the BCPNP, which supports immigration applications to the federal government. Canadian provinces do not have the ability to give out permanent residency status, but they can help an application along by issuing provincial nomination.

To get the nomination, you need to meet the province’s labour market needs. The program is operated by the British Columbia Government in partnership with federal immigration department,   Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and IRCC distributes limited number of nominations to BC PNP each year.

The skilled worker applications accepted by the BC PNP are under two pathways i.e. Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC. The Skills Immigration aims skilled and semi-skilled workers in priority bases.

British Columbia invites Express Entry candidates

Express Entry allows the province to nominate qualified candidates for admission under federal Express Entry Immigration system. In order to qualify under BC Express Entry streams one has to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the applicable federal express entry which included Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class.

You gain an additional 600 CRS points if you receive a provincial nomination from a PNP. This reward is adequate to allow you to receive an Invitation to Apply in an Express Entry draw.
