  • January 27, 2022

British Columbia has conducted two new draws, issuing 289 invitations through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.

The January 25 draws featured a general draw, and a second draw targeting two NOC codes: 0621 for Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers and 0631 for Restaurant and Food Service Managers.

A total of 264 candidates were selected from a general draw. These candidates received invitations if they met the minimum score requirements between 77 and 114 depending on the program for which they are eligible.

Another draw targeted candidates who fall under the NOC 0621 (retail and wholesale trade managers) or NOC 0631 (restaurant and food service managers). This draw resulted in 25 invitations with minimum scores of 114 across the board.

If invited candidates receive the provincial nomination, they will automatically get 600 points added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The nomination is valid for approximately six months from the date of confirmation.

British Columbia has been conducting a separate round of invitations twice a month as part of its PNP program since February 2021. Due to the sheer large number of candidates from specific labour market sectors who have registered in the province’s Skills Immigration Registration System(SIRS), these draws are being held.

About the British Columbia PNP Program

The BC PNP aims to attract foreign workers who are in high demand in the province and who wish to become permanent residents of Canada.

Skills Immigration and Express Entry are the two immigration streams in the BC PNP, both of which are divided into sub-categories.

These streams are managed under B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Before you can apply through the SIRS, you must first create an account. After that, you’ll be given a score based on factors like your education, work experience, and language skills

The Express Entry BC (EEBC) stream is for candidates who have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry system, which is Canada’s main pathway for skilled individuals seeking permanent residency in the country.

The SI (Skilled Immigration) stream is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province of British Columbia.

The province periodically invites the highest scoring applicants in each category to apply under BCPNP. Then successful applicants are nominated to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.

If you received an invitation you will have 30 days from the date of the invitation to submit a complete application through the BC PNP online system.

Once you submit a complete BC PNP application package you will be notified of the province’s decision within approximately two to three months. If your nomination is successful, you become eligible to apply IRCC for permanent resident status under the Provincial Nominee Class. The nomination is valid for approximately six months from the date of confirmation.

In the Skilled Immigration and EE aligned draws and other PNP draws, the candidates are awarded additional 600 CRS points if they receive the successful nomination. That ensures the ITA from federal Express Entry program.
