The Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser, announced the launch of the first Healthcare Targeted Express Entry Draw on June 28, inviting 500 applicants to apply for ITAs in 35 healthcare occupations, while the second will focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) professionals.

The draw followed the tie-breaking rule implemented on November 12, 2022, ensuring invitations were extended to those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before that date and time.

In addition, Minister Fraser announced that another 1,500 ITAs will be issued on July 5, 2023, specifically targeting the same 35 healthcare occupations. This initiative aims to address the labor needs in the healthcare sector and facilitate skilled newcomers’ entry into Canada.

Furthermore, Minister François-Philippe Champagne, on behalf of Minister Sean Fraser, announced the upcoming launch of the first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) round for category-based Express Entry draw, scheduled for the week of July 5. The focus of this draw is to attract individuals with STEM backgrounds, including data scientists, software developers, programmers, mathematicians, statisticians, actuaries, as well as electrical and electronics engineers.

These measures are designed to strengthen Canada’s science and technology sector by attracting qualified workers, fostering innovation, and unlocking the sector’s full growth potential.
