Canada has declared a rough slot of immigration applications that will be approved in the coming three years. A few days back Canada announced its immigration level plan for 2021-2023 and the plan shows rapid growth in invitation approvals. In the history of Canada, this is the highest level plan.

The plan shows Canada’s aim to welcome new permanent residents as mentioned below,

  • 2021: 401,000 immigrants
  • 2022: 411,000 immigrants
  • 2023: 421,000 immigrants

Before such a declaration in history, Canada had only invited over 400,000 immigrants in 1913, where the number of newcomers was 401,000. Now the history will be repeated in 2021-2023.

As per the plan, Canada wants to welcome about 60 per cent of all immigrants under economic class programs, including through Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program.

Presently, the most important announcement of the Canadian government is the Immigration Levels Plan.   The plan traces the aim of the Canadian government to welcome the number of new permanent residents over the coming years taking and various categories into consideration.

Canada welcomes immigrants under the following categories: economic; family; refugee; and humanitarian and compassionate grounds. This declaration will help immigrants to plan their future in Canada and also help to coordinate with their consultants to understand the processing time management strategy.

The previous plan of Canadian immigration was different and so that the federal government announced Canada would aim to welcome over one million new permanent residents between 2020 and 2022 on March 12. But the entrance of COVID-19 switched the plan off and Canada had to shut its border due to the pandemic to save their residents from medical emergencies.

In return, Canada will run behind the previous plans and a shortage of nearly 341,000 immigrants will be visible this year. Yet they tried well and it has been holding Express Entry draws throughout the pandemic that will result in Canada breaking its Express Entry record this year. Also, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws are still on-going.

To reimburse the loss in immigration this year, Canada has set the most ambitious immigration levels to plan in its history.

Canadian immigration department re-opens phone support

Canada Immigration

The Canadian immigration department has decided to reopen the operations of phone support for answering the questions and inquires raised. The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) phone operations were put on halt at the end of March 2020 following the implementation of coronavirus (COVID 19) prevention measures throughout Canada. Due to reduced staffing and delay in the immigration processes, the inquiry was not available until now, but the government is going to reopen the department for the public to enquire.

Instead of closing its operations completely, the immigration department has continuously worked towards helping the country to make a speedy recovery in this pandemic situation. Now IRCC is once again accepting calls for the questions and concerns, but please note that considering the current situation, the operations will be taking place at a reduced capacity. Phone lines will be open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. People who have queries may call the department during the given time and resolve their doubts.

The new phone system has been put in place to support agents working remotely. IRCC cautioned that technical issues may arise as a result of this new set up, according to a media release. In such cases, the issues will be solved at earliest and the service will be provided at its best.

Meanwhile, online inquiries can be submitted 24 hours per day, seven days per week through IRCC’s webform.
