Canada conducted its sixth all-program Express Entry draw of 2023 on April 12, issuing 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). The draw featured a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 486, which is five points higher than the previous all-program draw held on March 29.

In 2023, Canada has issued a total of 41,760 ITAs, after inviting 45,115 candidates in 2022. With a record immigration target of 465,000 for this year, it is likely that we will see more draws in the coming months.

This was the 10th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2023 and 246th overall.

Tie-Breaking Rule Implemented

The latest draw saw the implementation of the tie-breaking rule on July 19, 2022, at 11:05:24 UTC.  If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this date and time received invitations.

Processing Time

Selected candidates now have 60 days to submit their applications, which will be processed within the standard six-month period.

Express Entry  – Eligibility

To be eligible for an Express Entry draw, candidates must first meet the eligibility requirements of one of the three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, or Canadian Experience Class.

They are then assessed based on their age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other factors. The highest-scoring candidates are issued ITAs through regular Express Entry draws.

The Express Entry system remains the primary pathway for skilled workers to obtain permanent residency in Canada. The system is flexible and allows for regular draws, which makes it a popular option for people looking to immigrate to Canada.
