Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held another draw issuing Invitation to Apply (ITA) to 5000 candidates on December 9.
The cut-off for Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) score was 469 points where candidates must have achieved the minimum score in order to be invited. This draw brings the total number of ITAs issued this year to 102,350, a record high number of invitations.
Express Entry is Canada’s immigration application management system for three federal economic-class programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
The tie breaking rule was applied to this draw. In case of a tie, candidates who have a CRS score of 469 or more must have submitted their Express Entry profile before June 4, 2020, at 22:26:05 UTC in order to receive an invitation.
Candidates in Express Entry as well as some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are given a score based on the CRS. Points are awarded depending on candidates’ human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, and language ability in English or French.
The large number of ITAs is in line with Canada’s commitment to welcome over 400,000 new immigrants in 2021, most of them coming through the Express Entry system.
This second time in row when the CRS score cut-off has decreased and this time it is 469 points which usually was over 470 for a long time for all-program draws. The Federal Skilled Trades Program draws on August 6 invited the trade workers with CRS score 415 and previous Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw invited candidates at 440 points. PNP draws have usually higher requirements as the Provincial Nomination awards an additional 600 points to the candidates which confirm the ITA. PNPs offer alternative pathways to permanent residence for Express Entry candidates who have a lower CRS score.
