The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) recently conducted two draws in June 2023 under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). These draws specifically targeted Express Entry profiles, inviting a total of 267 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
On June 8, 2023, the AAIP draw invited 150 Express Entry profiles with a CRS score of 382 and above. This draw emphasized candidates working in the agriculture sector and those who have French as their first language. Alberta aims to attract skilled professionals with expertise in agriculture and linguistic abilities to support the province’s growth.
The June 1, 2023, Alberta PNP draw invited 117 Express Entry profiles with a CRS score of 304 or above. This draw specifically targeted candidates with family connections in Alberta and primary occupations in high demand within the province. By prioritizing family ties and in-demand skills, Alberta aims to strengthen its communities and address labor market needs.
As of June 12, 2023, Alberta has already issued 4,583 nomination certificates under all categories. For the year 2023, the province has a total quota of 9,750 nominations, with 4,875 nominations set aside specifically for Express Entry profiles. This demonstrates Alberta’s commitment to attracting and retaining skilled professionals through the PNP.
Occupations with High Volume of Applications
Applications for occupations with the following occupations are high in worker streams, and they may take longer to process than usual.
• 62020 – Food service supervisors
• 62010 – Retail sales supervisors
• 63200 – Cooks
• 12200 – Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
• 13110 – Administrative assistants
• 73300 – Transport truck drivers
• 60020 – Retail and wholesale trade managers
• 21222 – Information systems specialists
• 65201 – Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations
• 21223 – Database analysts and data administrators
The Alberta Express Entry Stream offers a pathway for skilled professionals to obtain provincial nomination from Alberta through the federal Express Entry system. To be eligible for this stream, candidates must have a valid Express Entry profile with a minimum CRS score of 300 and meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The Alberta Express Entry Stream provides opportunities for skilled individuals to contribute to the province’s economic development and gain permanent residency in Alberta.
