A new set of guidelines for international arrivals to India has been released by the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in effect from November 22, 2022. The new guidelines reflect declining Covid-19 cases worldwide and significant improvements in Covid-19 vaccination coverage in India.
The updated guidelines apply to all international travellers entering by air, port, or land borders as of today, and will will continue to be in effect until further notice.
Below are guidelines for pre-arrival planning and in-flight travel, as well as those for arrival in India.
Travelers should ideally be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 under their country’s primary immunization program.
In-flight announcements will inform passengers about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and how to stay safe on board and at all ports of entry. Passengers are to continue to take precautionary measures by wearing masks and keeping physical distance to stay safe
Any passenger experiencing Covid-19 symptoms during travel may be separated in accordance with the established protocol. It involves wearing a mask during flight travel, being isolated from other passengers, and being transferred to an isolation center for further treatment.
Passengers must maintain physical distance while de-boarding. At the port of entry, health officials may conduct thermal screenings on all passengers. A passenger who exhibits symptoms during screening will be immediately isolated, as required by health protocol, and taken to a medical facility.
After arrival, all passengers must self-monitor their health. If symptoms occur, they should contact their nearest health facility or call the national helpline number 1075 or the state helpline number.
If there are any new or updated travel guidelines for international travellers to India, we will continue to monitor and share them.
