Manitoba invites 273 immigration candidates in latest PNP Draw

Manitoba has released the details of its new immigration draw, inviting 273 candidates on February 10 to apply for provincial nomination in order to obtain PR through the MPNP. The draw issued the Letter of Advice to apply to the candidates of Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education Stream. The results are as follows:

• Skilled Workers in Manitoba — 202 invitations with a minimum score of 615;
• Skilled Workers Overseas — 31 invitations with a minimum score of 705; and
• International Education Stream — 40 invitations with no score requirement.

Among these invitations, 68 were issued to candidates in the Express Entry system.

Manitoba immigration programs

The provincial government encourages immigration and manages applications through the MPNP to the federal government. Provinces cannot give out permanent residency, but they can help support an application.

To be eligible, you must submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP. This will get you in a position to get nominated for a nomination certificate through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams. Manitoba then ranks candidates out of 1,000 points for their human capital factors, as well as their connections to the province.

The Skilled Workers Overseas Category and Skilled Workers in Manitoba streams are designed to allow the province to identify candidates who meet its labour market needs.

Candidates who are not from Manitoba need to show that they have connections here. They can do this by having close family ties, or spending time in the province previously. They can also apply through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. Applicants do not need to live in Manitoba at the time of their application to be eligible

Candidates must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer in order to receive an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category.

International graduates who complete their education in Manitoba may be eligible for an invitation under the International Education Stream if they can demonstrate in-demand skills.
