Manitoba immigration programs

Manitoba’s immigration programs are managed through their MPNP. This supports an application to the federal government and allows you to migrate to Manitoba permanently. Provinces can’t give out permanent residency status, but they can help an application along by issuing provincial nominations.

To be eligible, you must submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP. This will get you in a position to get nominated for a nomination certificate through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams. Manitoba then ranks candidates out of 1,000 points for their human capital factors, as well as their connections to the province.

The Skilled Workers Overseas Category and Skilled Workers in Manitoba streams are designed to allow the province to identify candidates who meet its labour market needs.

Candidates who are not Manitoba residents must demonstrate that they have connections here. They can accomplish this by having close family ties to the province or having previously spent time in the province. In addition, they can apply through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. Applicants are not required to live in Manitoba at the time of their application in order to be considered.

To be eligible for an invitation under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category, candidates must have a full-time job offer from a provincial employer.

International graduates who complete their education in Manitoba may be eligible for an invitation under the International Education Stream if they can demonstrate in-demand skills.
