Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry draw on October 26, 2023, specifically targeting candidates with work experience in healthcare occupations. The draw issued 3,600 invitations to apply (ITAs), the highest number of ITAs issued in a single healthcare-targeted draw to date.

This is the third healthcare-targeted draw that IRCC has held in 2023, and it brings the total number of ITAs issued to healthcare workers this year to 5,600. This is a significant increase from the previous round on July 6, 2023, when IRCC only issued 1,500 ITAs to healthcare workers through the Express Entry program.

The draw implemented a tie-breaking rule on May 24, 2023 at 19:47:51 UTC. In cases where multiple candidates shared the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, only those who submitted their Express Entry profiles before this specified date and time received invitations.

This draw represents the 35th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2023 and the 271st overall. Successful candidates now have a 60-day window to submit their applications, which will undergo standard processing within six months.

Throughout the year, Canada has conducted various draws targeting different categories, including 17 all-program draws, five Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, five draws for French speakers, three draws for healthcare occupations, and single draws for STEM occupations, skilled trades, Federal Skilled Worker candidates, transport jobs, and agriculture and agri-food occupations.

In 2023, IRCC has issued a total of 95,221 ITAs, showcasing a significant increase compared to the 45,115 candidates invited throughout the entire year of 2022.
