Canada has launched an online portal that allows spousal and child sponsorship applicants to track their immigration application online. It can be found on the government website.

At the moment, It is currently only for people who are applying for spousal, common-law, and dependent child sponsorship. It is available to applicants as well as representatives.

On the online form, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) states that the tracker’s information is subject to change at any time before IRCC officers make any final decisions. It also states that there may be some delays or differences between the actual progress of sponsorship applications and the information shown in the tracker.

The Canadian Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, announced the tracker earlier this week as part of efforts to modernize the Canadian immigration system.

The government also wants to expand online applications for future immigrants in the summer of 2022. Starting with more applications, it aims to minimize processing delays associated with paper-based processes and the pandemic.

The government released more information on what they have done to improve the processing of spousal sponsorship applicants, saying that their work has returned wait times to 12 months.

According to the latest figures, Canada has experienced a backlog of immigration applications. As of December 2021 there were 54,683 spousal sponsorship applicants and 8,848 children and other family class applicants waiting for their decisions on the application.
