New Zealand is making it easier for people applying for visas and immigration. They’ve approved a new option called IELTS One Skill Retake. This means if someone doesn’t get the score they want in listening, reading, writing, or speaking on their first try, they can redo that specific part. Immigration New Zealand sees this as a good way to check English skills for those wanting to move to the country.

This option lets applicants focus on improving one area of their language skills to better match their strengths and needs. The person in charge at IELTS, Warwick Freeland, says that this shows how their testing system is adaptable and high-quality.

Many organizations around the world already accept IELTS One Skill Retake, including UK Visas & Immigration and the Australian Department of Home Affairs. It’s also available in over 100 countries.

If someone chooses to retake one skill, they’ll get a new score report. This report can be used for both immigration and studying, giving test-takers more flexibility. Piyush Kumar from IDP Education says that this change from Immigration New Zealand recognizes the different language abilities of applicants and supports their goal of making international migration smoother.
