In a recent draw conducted through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), Ontario has issued 2,844 Canada immigration invitations to candidates under the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream.
The draw, held on August 3, included candidates from 46 different occupations, with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores ranging between 250 and 516 points.
The invitations were targeted at the following occupations:
- NOC 72010 – Contractors and supervisors, machining, metal forming, shaping and erecting trades and related occupations
- NOC 72011 – Contractors and supervisors, electrical trades and telecommunications occupations
- NOC 72012 – Contractors and supervisors, pipefitting trades
- NOC 72013 – Contractors and supervisors, carpentry trades
- NOC 72014 – Contractors and supervisors, other construction trades, installers, repairers and servicers

Qualification Criteria for Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream
To qualify for the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream, candidates must meet specific criteria:
- Active Profile under the Federal Express Entry System: Candidates must have an active profile within the Federal Express Entry system, demonstrating their intent to contribute to Canada’s workforce.
- Relevant Work Experience: A minimum of 12 months of full-time paid work experience in Ontario within the last two years is required. This experience should align with NOC major groups 72, 73, 82, 83, and 93 or minor group 6320, showcasing the program’s flexibility.
- Ontario License or Certification: Candidates must provide proof of holding an Ontario license or certification, where applicable to their occupation.
- Residency and Work Permit: An essential requirement is having a valid work permit and residing in Ontario at the time of application. This criterion ensures that candidates are committed to integrating into the local community.
- Language Proficiency: A minimum language proficiency level of CLB/NCLC 5 or above in either English or French is necessary, ensuring effective communication and integration.
- Settlement Funds: Candidates must demonstrate the possession of the required settlement funds, indicating their ability to establish themselves in Ontario.
