Prince Edward Island has held a new provincial draw on March 17, issuing invitations to apply to 141 skilled worker and entrepreneur candidates for Canada immigration.
In this latest draw, invitations were issued under the Labour Impact, Express Entry, and Business Impact streams of the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP).
130 of the 141 invitations were issued to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates, while 11 were issued to Business Impact candidates.
A minimum score of 62 points was required for Business Impact candidates.
During 2021, PEI sent 1,933 invites, compared with 1,955 in 2020.
In the year 2021, 1,764 invitations were issued to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates. The remaining 169 invitations went to Business Impact candidates.
Candidates already in the federal Express Entry pool can be considered for a provincial nomination under PEI’s Express Entry category.
A nomination of this type adds 600 points to a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and effectively ensures they will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian immigration.
There are two pathways available under the PEI Express Entry Category, one for candidates with a job offer and one for those without.
1) Skilled Worker Stream
Under this stream, skilled workers with job offers in Prince Edward Island can be nominated for Canadian permanent residence if they meet the following criteria:
2) Critical Worker Stream
Foreign workers already living in PEI with jobs in critical demand may qualify for this category, designed to prevent labour shortages. To qualify, they should meet these requirements:
Individuals applying through the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream must obtain a Canadian work permit and work for a P.E.I. business for the duration specified in a Performance Agreement.
Following the completion of the Performance Agreement, the applicant must make a minimum $150,000 investment in the business and commit to managing it on a daily basis from within P.E.I.
