Prince Edward Island Draw: 165 Immigration Candidates Invited

The PEI Provincial Nominee Program issued 165 invitations to apply for PR under two different categories on July 21. In 2022, this is the highest number of invitations sent by a smallest province in Canada under a single draw. Previous high was 153 in the May PEI PNP Draw.

Out of 165 invitations, 138 candidates were invited under Labour & Express Entry, while 27 were invited under Business Work Permit Entrepreneur. As compared to the last draw in June 2022, the minimum point threshold has been lowered by five points to 60.

The Prince Edward Island PNP draws are held once a month and are announced between the 15th and the 20th. There were 123 invitations issued by PNP on February 17, 2022, which was the lowest number in 2022. The largest PEI PNP draw so far has been in October 2021 with 204 applicants. As of 2022, 991 applicants have been invited to participate in PEI PNP

 

PEI Express Entry Category

Candidates already in the federal Express Entry Pool are considered for a provincial nomination in PEI’s Express Entry category.

Express Entry candidates must first create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP in order to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination given an additional 600 points toward their CRS score and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

The PEI Express Entry Category offers two paths to Canadian permanent residence: one for candidates who have a job offer and one for those who do not.

 

Prince Edward Island Labour Impact Category

1) Skilled Worker Stream

This employer-driven stream allows skilled workers with a job offer in Prince Edward Island to be nominated for Canadian permanent residence if they meet the following criteria:

  • A full-time job offer from a Prince Edward Island company in an occupation classified as skill level “0”, “A” or “B” of the National Occupational Classification (NOC);
  • Completion of a post-secondary education, with a minimum of 14 years of formal education;
  • Between 21 and 55 years of age;
  • A minimum of two years of full-time work experience in the last five years;
  • Sufficient proficiency in English or French to occupy the employment offered;
  • Sufficient settlement funds;
  • Demonstrated intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.

 

2) Critical Worker Stream

This category is designed to prevent labour shortages and is open to foreign workers already in PEI with work in critical demand occupations. To qualify, they should meet these requirements:

  • A full time offer of employment from a Prince Edward Island business in one of the following occupations:
    • Truck driver;
    • Customer service representative;
    • Labourer;
    • Food & beverage server;
    • Housekeeping attendant.
  • 6 months of work experience with the Prince Edward Island business offering employment;
  • Current valid Canadian work permit;
  • High school diploma and minimum of 12 years of formal education;
  • Between 21 and 55 years of age;
  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience in the past 5 years;
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency in English or French language;
  • Sufficient settlement funds;
  • Demonstrated intention to settle in Prince Edward Island.

 

Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category

Individuals applying through the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream must obtain a Canadian work permit and work for a P.E.I. business for the duration specified in a Performance Agreement.

Following the completion of the Performance Agreement, the applicant must make a minimum $150,000 investment in the business and commit to managing it on a daily basis from within P.E.I.
