Prince Edward Island held a PNP draw for Expression of Interest (EOI) and issued invitations to 195 candidates on December 17.
Out of the total 195 candidates, 21 are Business Work Permit Entrepreneur Invitations with minimum point threshold of 85 points and 174 are Labour & Express Entry Invitations.
In the last 12 months, PEI invited total 1955 candidates out of which 213 business invitations while 1742 invitations are under labour and express entry invitations. That means business invitations are 11% while the labour and express entry invitations are 89% of total number of invitations issued.
March, April, May, and June 2020 draws issued 5, 10, 33 and 19 invitations respectively and they were under the Labour Impact Category to support applicants working in essential service industries i.e. Healthcare and Trucking.
Labour & Express Entry Invitations of July 16, 2020 consisted of Expression of Interest profiles submitted during March and April 2020 for those living and working in PEI.
Aug 2020 Invitations consisted of all Express Entry and those Labour Expression of Interest profiles submitted up to June 2020 that stated they are living and working in PEI.
In order to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI, Express Entry candidates need to create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP.EOI profiles are given points based on the province’s unique point grid. The highest-scoring candidates are then invited to apply through monthly draws.
The Labour Impact Category is for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in PEI, and have support from their employer. It is divided into three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate.
Candidates in this category must also submit an EOI profile in order to be considered for a provincial nomination through the Labour Impact Category.
The 27 candidates who were invited through the Business Impact Category on October 15 needed a minimum EOI score of 92. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business in PEI.
