An unscheduled provincial draw on December 1 invited 69 skilled worker candidates to apply for Canada immigration. Invitations were issued through the Labour Impact and Express Entry Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) stream.
Each month, Prince Edward Island publishes a list of provincial draw dates. However, it has recently begun conducting draws outside that schedule.
A total of 1,933 invitations were issued by PEI in 2021, compared to 1,955 in 2020.
In 2021, 1,764 invitations went to Labour Impact and Express Entry candidates, and 169 went to Business Impact candidates.
1) Skilled Worker Stream
In this employer-driven stream, skilled workers with an employment offer in PEI can be nominated for Canadian permanent residence if they meet the following criteria:
2) Critical Worker Stream
This category is designed to prevent labour shortages and is open to foreign workers already in PEI with work in critical demand occupations. To qualify, they should meet these requirements:
Work Permit Stream
To be eligible for the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream, applicants must obtain a Canadian work permit and work for a P.E.I. business for the specified period of time as designated in a Performance Agreement.
A minimum investment of $150,000 is required after the Performance Agreement is fulfilled, as well as a commitment to manage the business on a daily basis from Prince Edward Island.
Prior to September 2018, Prince Edward Island operated direct permanent residence business streams, but these were closed because of concerns about immigration fraud.
