Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 295 Invitations to Apply (ITA) under the In-Demand Skills stream on April 11.

This was the first In-Demand Skills stream draw of 2023 and invited candidates with a score of 30 and above, whose profiles were created between November 22, 2022, and April 11, 2023. In comparison, only 523 profiles were invited under this stream in the entire year of 2022.

However, OINP’s quota has significantly increased this year, suggesting the possibility of more such draws in the future. The In-Demand Skills stream is an excellent option for those working in NOC C or D jobs. Ontario has a list of in-demand skills occupations that meet the eligibility requirements for this stream.

To be eligible for the In-Demand Skills stream, candidates must meet the following general requirements:

  • Language Requirement: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 or above in either English or French.
  • Education Requirement: A secondary school (high school) diploma or its equivalent Education Credential Assessment (ECA) from outside Canada.
  • Job Offer Requirement: A full-time (at least 1,560 hours and 30 hours of paid work each week) employment/job offer with no expiration date (indeterminate duration). Job offer pay must meet or be higher than the median wage level.
  • Work Experience: At least 9 months of total paid full-time employment in the same in-demand profession as the job offer in Ontario.

Overall, the In-Demand Skills stream is an attractive option for individuals who possess the required skills, education, and work experience and meet the eligibility requirements to settle and work in Ontario.
